CQC introduces GP practice regulation system

AvMA welcomes the announcement today of how the Care Quality Commission (CQC) will monitor, inspect and rate GP practices and take action over poorly performing practices. AvMA chief executive Peter Walsh said:

“This is a step in the right direction and well overdue. GPs provide a vitally important service and the vast majority do it extremely well. However, these services should be subject to the same rigorous scrutiny and be held to account if necessary, just as we would expect with a hospital.”
