CQC ‘duty of candour’ guidance and NMC code consultations
Published: 28 Jul 2014
AvMA is calling for a more proactive and robust approach from the CQC to monitoring and enforcing compliance with the Duty of Candour. In its consultation, the CQC suggests it will “mainly use the new regulations on candour to confirm or encourage good practice through the ratings we give, rather than enforce them directly”. This seems at odds with the fact the Duty of Candour has been made a “fundamental standard”. AvMA welcomes the bulk of the guidance. The CQC is also consulting on the “fit and proper person test”. Consultation closes on 5th September. Meanwhile, the consultation on the NMC’s new code of practice closes on 11th August.
