Northern Ireland public inquiry hears evidence on need for duty of candour
November 11, 2013At the request of the public inquiry into hyponatraemia-related deaths, Peter Walsh gave evidence to the inquiry in Belfast on 11th November for the whole morning. The chairman was particularly interested to hear the rationale for a Duty of Candour and practical considerations about complaints handling.

Call for duty of candour in Ireland
November 4, 2013AvMA hosted a conference jointly with the Medical Injuries Alliance in Dublin today. A range of speakers made the case for guaranteed openness with patients/families when things go wrong, including first hand accounts of families who had not been dealt with openly.

Complaints recommendations welcome but action needed now not words
