‘The empowered Patient: your right to decide’ – joint event with The Royal Society of Medicine

This joint meeting between the Open Section and Action against Medical Accidents (AvMA) will cover aspects of consent, the duty of candour, clinical disputes and justice/redress.

The topic is of importance to healthcare professionals and those who have an interest in health matters.  Healthcare professionals and managers should attend in addition to members of the public.

This meeting is being held in remembrance of Fiona Freedland, and in particular will acknowledge her contribution to patient safety and justice.  Fiona was an accomplished lawyer specialising in clinical negligence and was Legal Director of AvMA before also contributing to the work of ISCAS and the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
