Denise Broomfield

Denise qualified as a solicitor in 1991 and started specialising in clinical negligence work in 1993. In 1999 she became AvMA’s youngest panel member. Later, she also became a member of the Law Society’s Clinical Negligence panel.

Denise remained in legal practice in the South-West until February 2022, when she took a two year “gap year” to lecture medical law, employment law and professional skills to trainee solicitors, at the University of West of England.

Missing the law and the world of clinical negligence, she started working for AvMA in February 2024, where she leads the Inquest Team.

Denise has always had a passion for truth, fairness and justice. In practice she had a particular interest in cases involving women’s health, cancer and cardiology. She has also advocated for many clients at Inquests.

When not working for AvMA, Denise can be found outdoors, hiking or cycling and camping in her camper van “Ludo”. On rainy days, she can be found in a quiet corner with a good book.
